Hordos Insurance Brokers Inc. (HIBI) was incorporated in June of 2009 and opened its doors in Regina Beach July 1, 2009, the purchase from a Credit Union. HIBI is a family owned brokerage.

Seasoned Insurance Professional, Steve J. Hordos, CAIB, CCIB, CIP who has been a licensed Insurance Broker since 1983, is the President. Carrie Hordos is the Treasurer.

Steve has worked only as a Broker in the insurance business since 1983, having spent 17 of those years with a Regina brokerage in which he was a minority partner. There he got his first taste of group insurance accounts when he developed that office's first group insurance program for Professional Photographers across Canada. He also worked on Major Accounts, such as the City of Regina, Sask Housing Corporation and the College of Notre Dame, to name a few.

Steve has spent several years in the service of his industry, serving as Board Member of the Insurance Institute of Canada, Saskatchewan Chapter, Past President of the Regina and Area Insurance Brokers Council and on the board of the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS). He was the IBAS Board Representative to the Canadian Centre of Insurance Operations (CSIO). He has also taught several insurance classes, marked examination papers and served as one of two Key Panellists in Saskatchewan for the Canadian Certified Insurance Broker (CCIB) examinations.

He also served in his community as Chair of his Church, Chair of a Western Canadian Folk Festival, Sports Chair & Board Member for the Saskatchewan Summer and Winter Games and has coached minor and ladies softball, minor hockey - winning a City Championship and coaching minor to midget baseball, winning three League Championships and a Provincial Silver Medal. He also served on Saskatchewan's largest rural school division, the Buffalo Plains School Board (now Prairie Valley School Division) to name a few.

HIBI represents major Provincial and National Insurers in Canada through direct contract and access through Company Representatives across Canada. HIBI is also a Lloyd’s Of London, Open Market Correspondent. This access allows HIBI the ability to offer virtually any insurance product you should need including Group Insurance Products, Steve's specialty. HIBI has also become Life Licensed and can provide Life affiliated insurance products to suit your personal or group needs.

The other major component of HIBI is Stephen M. Hordos, CAIB, Steve’s Son. Steve was especially proud to have his Son join him in the industry he loves. Stephen has worked hard to attain his Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker designation in his first year in the business. The CAIB Program is an extensive insurance educational undertaking comprised of four courses pertaining to Personal Lines, Commercial Lines and Brokerage Management. Each course in the program culminates in a national examination. Upon successful completion, eligible candidates are awarded the nationally recognized professional designation - CAIB.

The CAIB program is designed specifically for Property and Casualty insurance brokers. It provides formal, fundamental insurance knowledge that will help develop business competency. CAIB courses acquaint producers more fully with the major coverage’s that generate 90% of premium volume. They also deal with marketing management and office operations and prepare the student for proprietor-licensing examinations.

We are very proud to have Stephen joining us in a very distinguished class of Broker Designates. He was presented with his Certificate, October 15, 2010 at the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan Awards Luncheon.

Steve Sr., by the way, was one of the first designates of this program back in 1988 and one of three Brokers to attain both his CAIB and Canadian Certified Insurance Broker, CCIB Designation the same year.

Stephen manages the day to day operation of the Regina Beach office and works hard to build the business, helping clients with their insurance needs. He has quickly become a valued asset to the business and a trusted advisor to the community.
